Richard DavenportSpeaker

Dr Davenport qualified in medicine from Nottingham University in 1987. After house jobs in Nottingham, he completed general medical training in Stoke-on-Trent, and began his neurological training there. He moved to Edinburgh in 1992 as a clinical registrar, and was awarded a DM for his thesis in stroke medicine in 1996. He spent 1997 as Advanced Neurological Trainee in Perth, Western Australia, returning to Edinburgh as one of the last Senior Registrars in 1998. He was appointed as a Consultant in 1999. Whilst very much a general neurologist, he has a variety of sub-specialist interests, including movement disorders, and runs an MD clinic. He was on the development group for the SIGN PD guidelines (published 2010). In another dimension, he is a member of the Association of British Neurologists Council (elected 2009), and Chair of the ABN Training and Education committee (appointed 2010).
